Images of text

You must ensure text is used to convey information rather than using images of text. By having text inside images, this prevents that information from being conveyed to those using asstive technology such as screen readers. Those with low vision could also struggle as the colour contrast between the image and the text inside that image might fail colour contrast standards.

Avoid using images to have stylised text and replace any images of text for HTML content on a page.

In situations where images of text must be used, the text alternative must contain the same text presented in the image. This should be done through either the image's alternative text or by placing the text close to the image as a caption.

This achieves WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 1.4.5 Images of Text.
